Editorial Policy
Guidelines governing technical sources, editorial standards, and factual corrections.
Source Vetting Standards
Optical guides and spec decoders on this site rely strictly on verified documentation provided by manufacturers, authorized distributors, and established optical standards organizations. The following sourcing rules apply to every article:
- Direct product manuals and verified factory data sheets serve as the primary baseline for dimensions, weights, glass chemistry, and optical coatings.
- Retailer listings with unverified or conflicting claims are cross-checked against manufacturer technical sheets before publication.
- Optical definitions (such as exit pupil math, twilight factor formulas, and prism geometry) follow standardized optical formulas.
Editorial Independence Standard
No manufacturer or retail merchant pays for positive placement, favourable ratings, or altered specifications. Products are chosen based on entry-level usability and published optical merit. Sponsored product inclusions or paid write-ups are not accepted.
Corrections Standard
Manufacturers periodically update optical components, coatings, or accessories without changing model names. When a specification error or outdated metric is identified, the editorial workflow requires:
- Verification of the revised technical metric against the latest published manufacturer document.
- Immediate correction of the erroneous figure within the text and comparison tables.
- Transparent notation on the article when a significant specification or recommendation change occurs.
